Savali i Upu - Fono Samoa 2014

This year's Fono Samoa was hosted by Mātū in the parish ground of Newton PIPC.   In the three days of meeting the church saw many come and go.  Many sat in the big meeting place in church, others in Tupulaga, mother's and father's programmes.

There was much discussed in regards to our church's journey to date.  Also which way forward to those in particular in the Fono Samoa.  No doubt ministers on return to their individual parishes will update their people as to where we are heading to next.

The Tupulaga thoroughly enjoyed the programme provided by Mātū.  A highlight was the aganu'u workshops that they travelled through.  They enjoyed them so much - during the reflection time it was shared that they would have loved more time to do this.  To be taught by church elders alongside those who were their own peers they found hugely encouraging.

We will begin posting different videos and photos there for you to write your very own comments under.  Remember that this is a wonderful opportunity for positive feedback for our church as a whole as well as those those who were hosts this year.

As Rev. Matāvai shared, let's make an archive of these special times together for us to reflect on today and store for our Tupulaga to make reference to as they need.

Our first post here is of Uiva Vaganā's hymn taught to the Mātū used in our opening service as well as the Tupulaga led service on Saturday morning.

God bless all that will unfold in your life and the life of our dear PIC church.

Autalavou Taagloga 2013

The Games were a huge hit!  Run and organised by the Sisifo Matagaluega which we are all very grateful for! We are very thankful for the many meetings, resourcing and communications that were always very efficient for us the wider church family.

The competition rounds were bigger this time around with more of of our PIC churches available to take part.   Kilikiti - 15 players in a team with limited time and balls saw us play some fast paced kilitikiti.  It was awesome!

The Tag tournament was wonderful - we have so many talented youth in the PIC.  All our sports included many of those who are friends of the PIC who participated also.  A highlight for many as sports is another key means of extending fellowship for our church.

The sack races saw many of our olds showing us how it's done, no doubt healthy discussion for future Komiti to work on the correct way to complete the race etc.  Jump or run??   Tug-of-war...again our olds showing us how it's done - working carefully on the call to tug!  Go mums and dads!!

The Trust Stadium was full of action with our young children through to the older participating in the many teams present.

Thank you, thank you thank you to all who participated in what was another successful round of PIC Autalavou Games.   We look forward to supporting those who will take the helm this year for the next round of games.  These games are definitely a highlight in our calendar, all part of extending His Kingdom in fellowship further than of our church walls.  God's name be lifted on high!

We plan to post pics soon from this wonderful event.

Tautua: Rev Fitifiti Luatau

Rev. Fitifiti, Ta'ita'i o le Fono Samoa 2012 - 2014.  Officially opened our conference with a powerful message on being a good servant - Tautua.  His explanation of someone who serves is very clear, sharing about village and family life of a Samoan. Also linking to the valuable truths in people like Toreka and Pita in the Bible.  O tagata na tautua ma le faamaoni.

Feedback from our Rep Shelby Fatialofa;
Leadership camp 2013 "O LE ALA ILE PULE O LE TAUTUA - met so many new people, and now I surely can say I have a new family, and more brothers and sisters ♥
I miss everybody already.... lol... But yes mean time with you's.
But that one quote that stood out was...
"ASK NOT WHAT YOUR COUNTRY CAN DO FOR YOU BUT ASK WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR COUNTRY" ♥ BE YOURSELF AND LEAD NOT TOMORROW BUT START TODAY!

Reflections from the Conference

We are currently processing videos to upload to this blog.  In the meantime we've come across fantastic reflections being posted by Manukau PIPC youth and their leaders.  Rather than try and explain what they share we are going to posting them here on our blog for you all to see.  We've checked that it's ok with their FB administrator and we received a resounding 'Yes!'.

Our posts following this will be reflections accompanied by video footage from our weekend.

Bless you Manix for the wonderful follow up you are so obviously carrying out.  A good model for the rest of us to follow up on.   This is an amazing page to check out Tupulaga.  All their events and happenings are displayed and advertised here.  It's a great way to find out what this part of the body is up to - heaps!!  Thank you Manukau for the great job you do in sharing all you have.

Thanks also to those of you who have completed our online evaluation and survey - it truly does help us to plan and prepare for our next Tupulaga Fono.  Bless you for taking the time.  If you haven't yet completed yours, simply click on the link above.

Thanks to the creative team from Manix for the image displaying our Fono and the themes and focus for the weekend.  Watch this space for video snippets of our blessed time together.

O le ala i le pule o le tautua

We've just finished out Tupulaga Fono PIPC  Samoa for 2013.  It was an awesome time together with church leaders of different ages and generations present.  We were blessed by many speakers during this Anzac weekend.  They presented many different truths for us to digest as we grow together as a leadership group for this special part of the PIPC.  We will post part by part of the Fono here on this blog for you to work through and share with family and friends.  Please leave your comments here as this is a means of archiving this special weekend - milestone for our dear PIC.

One of our first activities was to sit and talk about why youth should join our youth groups.  What can you offer?  What do you do well?  What are some special features of your group? Find out as you watch the five movies that were produced by the different regions.  This belongs to Sasa'e.

Autalavou/Tupulaga Taaloga 2013

We are excited to share with you here on our official Tupulaga o Aotearoa blog!  The games have been a huge success with one more day to go!  Our brothers and sisters from the Sisifo Matagaluega have done a splendid job.

Fellowship via the sports has been magnificent.  Wherever you look there have been smiling faces, reunions of friends and family they have been apart for way too long.  Everyone we have asked about these games have only responded with hugely positive support for this event.

The reintroduction of  PIPC Taaloga is an answer to many prayers of the Tupulaga, their families, their Komiti, their leader at the time Fualole Lealiifano and her colleagues such as Rev. Makesi.

For a good number of years the Tupulaga report to the Fono tele has highlighted at top priority the need of these sports tournaments to return.  This includes the need for professional development of our leaders via conference specifically aimed at leadership for Tupulaga.  It was often put aside for further discussion.  It was this desire of the Tupulaga and Autalavou that led Matu in previous years to run a tournament that was hugely appreciated by those who took part.

The great news is - both these issues have been given the official go ahead at our most recent Fono hosted at Ranui PIPC 2012.  Thanks to the Sisifo Komiti who have taken the lead and run this year's games.  You have been awesome!

So here we are - a great big tick for the games.  The next to check off will be our Tupulaga Conference that will be held in April - 25th - 27th 2013.  This will be at Wesley College.  It is for Tupulaga and their leaders aged 15 years and older.  The cost will be $70.

As support to our Sisifo hosts of this year's games, please leave your feedback here for them to see.  If you prefer you are welcome to email your feedback privately to tupulagapipc@gmail.com.  We will pass your feedback onto this years Taaloga Komiti.

God's blessings be upon us all as we continue to walk and set out paths for our precious Tupulaga/Autalavou of today and tomorrow.

We will be posting photo and video highlights on this blog soon, watch this space!
